Ben's new camera & bottom scraping

.

Great joy! Ya know when you get a Christmas gift at the age of 4… pure joy beams across your face.Well I hope I captured Ben’s pure joy as I took his picture while he took my picture each of us holding our new camera’s. Ben’s Aunt passed away last year and left him an inheritance. So each time he takes out his camera we say, “thanks Aunt Jeanet” Ben ordered the camera on May 5 and it got lost! So he just got his camera yesterday and he has already taken amazing pictures. Pure Joy!. I am the happy little supportive wifie cuz in order for him to practice taking portraits, short movies or just sitting around while he takes many pictures I humor him by being his subject. In his blog there might be a few pictures of me??? I’m not a ham… well maybe I am a bit of a ham but it is all for his learning. Maybe I have missed my calling? A model? a comedian? a movie star? who knows? ha ha h Some of you might not know the totally silly side of me! Yup it’s true, Ben has many silly pictures of me.

Share the love. Ben got to share the love of scraping and sanding. Today was bottom paint day but the bottom had other plans. Since we are “sailing” we are used to changing plans. (ok we are not sailing yet. “sailing” is our metaphor for “takin it easy”, “going with the flow”, “just going with the day’s heartbeat” etc… ) The boat is held up on these metal stilts as you can see in the pictures. You can’t paint under the square metal holders. So how do you paint under them? Well… the two center ones you can just move. The ones at the end of the boat you have to wait until your boat is moved a second time. Which we had the boat in a different spot a month ago. Now is the time to paint where we could not get before. In doing so, we found a few bubbles where the paint is chipping off. This is normal. First you have to scrap as much off as possible. Second, sand the raised paint places smooth. Third paint primer. Four paint bottom paint. Ben did this all alone during his month here. I was feelin a bit sad that I could not join in the “fun”. But today he shared the love and I got to do a little scraping and sanding and painting in during 90 degree weather. Tomorrow we shall awaken early and paint before the heat comes. Also Nola and Ed are visiting so we will be hanging with them and not painting.

Tonight we went out with Ben’s buddy Graham and his wife Irene. Irene had heard a lot of stories about Ben and I had heard a lot of stories about Graham. It was a fun night!

Oh yeah and we went to church this morning at a cute church. The service was the kind where you have a dialog instead of a sermon. Quite nice and I’m sure pastor Maxwell (Scottie – I don’t think he reads these blogs for me to get in trouble by saying Scottie, he calls me Pammy which I cannot stand too. So I’ll let him call me Pammy one time when we get back.) I wish I could have taped the service cuz it was a nice option one that only a certain person could pull off and that would most definitely be Scott! Hey Scott, I miss you and your sermons! Oh and all those other Atonement family members! We send our love!
