NYC through pictures
Ben takes about 500 or more pictures a day. So to sort through them is a feat. He has the most amazing pictures of plain “people” being in community. I’m sure he will post some. I have the “classic” pictures: Empire State Bldg, Central Park, Grand Central Station and that is GRAND!, times Square, Time Warner bldg (has a whole foods in it), Pier 17, Brooklyn Bridge, Mets Game, Subways, Queens neighborhood, etc … So We get up, go to town, walk and walk, ride the train, ride the train, walk and walk some more. Oh we eat and eat. People watch and people watch. Come back to the boat late 1 or 2am. Get up and do it again. That is why I have not blogged! We get home so late. Today we went around town with Lynn my old office manager. That was so good to see her! I was so happy inside to hear her talk and see that she is the same person I know and love. I can’t remember that last time I saw her but with any good person in your life you know they are supposed to be in your life when you pick up where you left off and it seems like no time has pasted and you always have something to talk about. Thanks Lynn for a great day of the walking tour of Manhattan!
Yesterday’s comments:
New York subway is where I am now going to a mets game. Sorry no Yankees are playing this week here so Ben has to settle for Met stadium. Lila had her first trip to NYC in the Kayak. She loved the wild ride. There is current plus the pull from the river plus wind all against us. I thought 4 knot current was alot each day it gets stronger due to the moon phase. A few days it will be full and that means higher highs and lower lows for tides. That translates to quite the "ride" Well the ride is not too bad as the transition from getting in and out from a tippy kayak to a bucking rocking 35 ton sailboat all with a rushing river. I can't describe it that well. Lila has been on calm kayak rides so she started out on top of the kayak and I said to her, so today is the day you are going in. She sniffed in the air puffed up her tail and tucked under the bow. As the dock approached I called her out and she was so excited that she jumped on the dock- free!
I took a shower in the facilities. The shower reminds me of one you would find in a rundown camping place. No ventilation, the tiles are cracked or missing, mold, and small.
Ok I'm sitting in the subway train. It is crowded. This older guy is on my right. He puts his hand on his leg then slides his hand so he is touching my leg. I move my leg. He moves. Then he starts moving his pinkie finger up and down on my leg. I look at Ben and say. On the count of three switch places with me I'll tell ya later. Ben was very happy to move and be the buffer and surprisingly the guy kept his hands to himself.
Tomorrow is ‘coney island’ and NYC pizza. They say the pizza is the best so we shall see. I will put up pictures. Smiling in His hands, Pam
