Me up the mast. Radar learning and more.

This morning as I was laying in bed looking at the weather report on my iPhone . I said to Ben.  Do we have to leaved today? Cuz I don't know the radar yet and the weather has a chance of severe storms. He looked up NOAA the official ocean weather report and read it out loud. Then I pointed out for him to click on the red underlined words "hazard weather outlook". He read them, possible severe weather. Still he was not convinced. I asked why dd he want to go now? Tomorrow seems much better and it looks like a two day nice weather window. He replied he'd rather be out at sea then at an unprotected beach. I replied I'd rather move to a protected anchorage (3 miles away) then risk not knowing how to use the radar. He conceded to my pleading eyes. I could tell he wanted to go. I feel bad but I would be ten times nervous and I want a happy first time overnight sea experience not a thrilling one. We got up and moved the boat to a more protected area. Not the best but better.
Then we read the radar manual together. The first thing it said was do not use radar for the first time at night. Get to know the radar during the day first by sighting objects. He looked at me and laughed and shook his fist as a funny guesture and said Rrrrrrrr. I smile. It is a God thing. So we spent at least two hours playing, sighting, and working the radar. I will practice before bed. Then shove off tomorrow. Phew! I feel like such a "mom" or kill-joy. But I knew I can't sail and read how to do the radar. It takes me a long time to read and concentrate.
Remember yesterday the radar reflector and the line that got loose. Welp today I had a lot of fun. Cuz instead of ben going up the mast. I got to get hoisted up. That was not even scary once! It is way easier for ben to hoist me up than me him. And it is way fun to go up there.! Right now ben is putting up the refector so people will see us at night.
More later after the day is done.
Today was a day of more radar learning. We got severe storms and we got to watch them come in on our radar unit. Fun. I swam under the boat to dislodge the speedometer wheel. I checked the zinc too. Looks good. I cooked hotdogs and ate chips and cucumbers again. I read more of the book I got from oxford ice cream shop. The owner there wrote a book. How could I resist. And last we took a sunset wild dinghy ride through the big waves. Got totally drenched! We got to see Hampton college. Adorable. We walked a bit and then headed back home. Good thing we did not bring Owen. If we would have it would have been his last. Ha ha ha.
I talked in the phone. Yes you all can call me. Ya know. Now time for a snacky and beddie bye.
Sleep tight. Prayers for safety and good weather. Amen friends! Pam
