Sailing and blogging
Here we are doing another night sail. We both really liked sailing at night. It is cool and cool. I am on the 9-11 pm shift then the 3-7 am.
Right now relaxing light winds. No big or little boat traffic. The stars are just ready to pop out. The moon is orange and huge looking as it starts to rise. I can't get the cape horn auto pilot to work cuz the winds are too light.
I had a great day of taking turns everytwo hours. I played the mandolin. Sang songs. Called people. Fished. Looked for dolphins. Only saw a few fins far away. Read a little.
Oh here is random (can u tell it is a slow day) I look one step removed from being a homeless person. I have not washed my hair is days. I'm not telling how long either. Who knows what shampoo you use in salt water? Anyone want to google that?
Ha right now on the gps I think I am moving backwards even tho I am pointed north my course over ground is south. Ha ha ha. Well we will get there sometime tomorrow the wind is supposed to pick up. Ben is making beans and spam while I am on duty.
Oh here is an Owen story. Our cupboards all slide open he has finally figured how to open the bathroom locker. Oh he is so mischief at night and loud. He keeps me awake for a good hour at night so this night sailing will be good for him. I will be ready to play with him!!!!
Hummm supper smells good!
Playing on the stereo are many classical songs and such. Ben grew up with classical. I played piano mostly classical. I like it but during my night morning shift I will play any song I can sing to so I can stay awake. These songs now make me want to snooze and it is only 9:48 p.
Today I also saw many foofer size fishjump out of the water happily dancing and twisting and turning.
Note to self. When you hear a lot of birds chirping out here it is probably a fish trap area! They like to purch on the poles. I was hearing birds then popped on radar to find a disturbance in the force fields and sure enough there is a fish trap. Fish traps on the Chesapeake are a bunch of big poles protruding from the water. Very ugly. Hold on ohhh boy it is foggy and still all of a sudden. A big haze has fallen over the moon and me. Back to the fish traps some are poles on a round circle about 60 feet diameter some are in a straight line about the length of a football field. These are mostly not marked on the maps. At night on the radar I just found out what they appear to look like. Good thing I did not run into that. Of course I am only moving at a slow walk so we would bounce off the poles. I think?
Many times before a wind shift the wind goes calm and when it starts up again it is from a different direction like right now. Changing course.
That's all for now. Nighty night all sleep in His arms
Pam
